As we count down to the final moments of GoldMX, and that hurts to write let me tell you...
On Tuesday the 30th of September 2026, GoldMX will cease to broadcast at 16:11 hours (4.11pm), a little geeky respect thing for a retiring frequency amongst radio nerds.

It's been an absolute honour to lift the local music scene out of the venues and onto the airwaves, where it belongs... to all who tuned in over the years, I'm going to miss you, if you loved the local music content, I recommend getting out n about to see your local artists do their wonderful thing at the many live music venues around the Great Southern.

To all the musos who’ve been featured, to all those who have worked with me here at GoldMX, to all the venues who still host live, local music, I want to say a heart felt “Thank You!”, it sure was a blast!

I don't know what the future holds for me, I'm still too busy wrapping up Barricades Media Pty. Ltd. and clearing out what remains of GoldMX so I can return this site to it's owner.

To say that I'm sad about this coming to pass is an understatement to the power of 10! I'm gutted, totally upset about losing the biggest champion of local music, of losing a unique part of Albany, and the continued "beige-ing" of the media in this country...pretty soon you won't have a choice as to where you get your entertainment, your music, your freedom to discern what works for you...

However, it's a symptom of the times to come...a new generation of media related folk have decided that if it's not homogenized, pre-packaged, online, quantifiable, and either a verified classic or some brand spanking new artist…then it’s not going to be heard…and radio is “sooooo old school and gone”…it makes me dread what the future looks like…

Anyhoo, tune in on Tuesday, I’ll be at least programming from mid morning and I might even open the mic up for one last shout out, who knows…
